Candle Care Guide

To fully experience the luxury of your Marjan candle, follow these simple steps. Proper care ensures a cleaner burn, a longer life, and a more beautiful scent throw.

"A candle is only as beautiful as the care given to it. Treat it with intention and it will reward you with hours of warmth, fragrance, and luxury."

01

The First Burn is Everything

The first time you light your Marjan candle, allow it to burn long enough for the entire surface of the wax to melt from edge to edge. This typically takes 2 to 3 hours depending on the size of the candle.

Skipping this step causes tunneling a narrow hole that burns straight down through the center, wasting a significant portion of your wax and fragrance. A full melt pool on the first burn sets the memory of the wax and ensures every subsequent burn is even and beautiful.

02

Trim Your Wick Before Every Burn

Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to approximately ¼ inch (6mm). You can use a wick trimmer, small scissors, or simply pinch off the charred tip with your fingers once the wax has cooled.

An untrimmed wick burns too hot, produces excess soot, causes the flame to flicker excessively, and reduces the life of your candle. A properly trimmed wick gives you a clean, steady flame and maximizes your burn time.

03

Burn Time Per Session

We recommend burning your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. Extended burns beyond 4 hours can cause the wick to move or bend, the wax pool to overheat, and the vessel to become dangerously hot.

After extinguishing, allow the candle to cool completely at least 2 hours before relighting. This keeps the wax solid and centered for your next burn.

04

How to Extinguish Properly

Always use a candle snuffer to extinguish your flame. Blowing out a candle sends a stream of smoke directly into the wax, which can affect the fragrance and leave soot marks on the vessel.

If you don't have a snuffer, dip the wick briefly into the melted wax using a non-flammable tool and then straighten it immediately. This extinguishes the flame without smoke and coats the wick for an easier next light.

05

Storage & Environment

Store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and drafts. UV light and heat can fade the color of the wax, alter the fragrance, and cause the surface to crack or sweat.

Keep candles away from vents, fans, and open windows while burning. Drafts cause uneven burning and excessive flickering that shortens burn life and reduces scent throw.

Ideal storage temperature is between 50 to 85°F (10 to 29°C). Do not store in refrigerators or in spaces that experience extreme temperature swings.

06

When to Stop Burning

Discontinue use when approximately ½ inch (12mm) of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel. Burning beyond this point can cause the glass to overheat, crack, or scorch the surface it rests on.

Once your candle has finished, the vessel can be cleaned and repurposed. Remove any remaining wax by placing the vessel in the freezer for one hour the wax will shrink and pop out cleanly. Clean with warm soapy water.
